Cassia Cottage began as a spice trader’s private retreat on Phu Quoc, a palm-fringed paradise discovered during our search for cassia and pepper across Vietnam.
As intrepid travelers found this unspoiled island, we opened our doors, transforming our beachfront home into one of Phu Quoc’s best resorts.
Built around a natural well and stream, Cassia Cottage has grown with the island’s popularity.
While we’ve expanded and renovated, our quaint charm and authentic energy remain. The same stream still runs through our idyllic resort, inviting guests to become part of our story.

We have watched Phu Quoc Island grow from an uncharted tropical island to a vibrant holiday-maker’s paradise. But as other parts of the island sprouted competing high-rise hotels, Cassia Cottage preserved the essence of the old Phu Quoc. In the early days of Cassia Cottage, our project was a way to bring together a community, and share Phu Quoc cassia and pepper with the world. In the years that followed, our roots became deeper. Phu Quoc’s reputation as an idyllic escape grew. From our breezy balconies we watched tourists embrace this tropical island we call home. At Cassia Cottage, we retain the authenticity we had in those long-ago days as a spice trader’s retreat. We welcome holiday-makers with the same open arms and warm Phu Quoc welcome as we did when we shared our cottage with those first intrepid off-the-beaten path travellers. We serve delectable dishes sourced from the same bounties of this wonderful island as we did back then. And we tend our verdant gardens with the same care and attention we always have, so our guests can feel the timeless charm of our beloved Cassia Cottage Phu Quoc.
We remain deliberately quaint. Cassia Cottage is still a much loved place for our family and we want our cottage to mean as much to you as it does to us. Our meals are prepared from carefully chosen ingredients.

Sustainability
Environmental Consciousness
Right from the beginning, Cassia Cottage recognised the responsibility of being part of the Phu Quoc community. We respect the local culture, support the local economy, and minimise our impact on the environment. We created Cassia Cottage Phu Quoc to be more than a resort. Since our inception, our spice trader’s retreat has been part of local life. As our spice trader’s home has become a boutique resort, we continue to minimise our environmental impact. We embrace local culture. And we support the island economy in everything we do. Our prosperity comes from being a part of our community. From our furniture and decorations, to our sumptuous Cassia Cottage seafood dishes and craft cocktails, we source locally.
In addition to supporting locally we proudly support the development and progress of the Phu Quoc inhabitants by recruiting locally. They may have come to us with limited education, but if they have talent and motivation we provide the training and the opportunity to grow with us.
Green Policy
We use a smaller electric generator in daily light hours and solar heating is installed for hot water in some parts of the resort. Towels and linen are laundered in-house without bleach, and air-dried, we also provide chlorine-free natural drinking water from a deep well on the property.
Mindful of Our Impact
At Cassia Cottage, sustainability is at the heart of our operations. We use natural well water, solar-heated water, and encourage guests to reuse towels and linens. Our cleaning practices involve natural soaps and avoid harsh chemicals or artificial scents. We employ eco-friendly pest control methods and compost our waste for use in our lush gardens. Grey water is recycled for landscaping, further reducing our environmental impact. From the natural aromas in our rooms to our eco-conscious practices, every aspect of your stay reflects our commitment to nature. Hygiene & Safety
Your safety and that of our team members have always been at the top of our list. Even as we gradually recover from the pandemic, we remain vigilant in keeping Cassia Cottage a safe haven for all who seek to relax, unwind and rejuvenate in our little slice of paradise.
- All our team members are fully vaccinated.
- Temperature checks, medical declaration via QR code, hand sanitizing upon arrival.
- Placement of hand sanitizers at all entrances to common areas including the reception, restaurant, Monsoon Pavilion (Yoga sala, library and lounge).
- Masks are available for guests at the reception.
- Thorough cleaning and disinfecting of rooms after every check out.
- Enhanced cleaning procedures and frequent sanitizing of common areas and high touch points like door handles, taps, desks and table surfaces, etc.
- Team members required to wear masks at all times while on duty, adopt excellent hygiene habits and have physical distancing awareness.
- Full advantage of natural ventilation due to Cassia Cottage’s open concept in restaurant and public areas, as well as large windows and high ceilings in all rooms.
- Large open spaces and low density buildings. No elevator needed.
