We created a genuine beach bar experience at The Malabar, named after the Malabar district in India, where pepper originated. At our bar, you will not be pestered by staff with our most expensive whiskeys, though we do have them. Your eardrums won’t implode from 12-inch subwoofers playing copy bands; our relaxing tunes are kept low.
The Malabar is Cassia Cottage’s Phu Quoc beach front bar. Created in the spirit of our spice trader’s retreat, The Malabar is a tranquil space on Ba Keo Beach, serving curated cocktails and craft and draught beer.
Southwest India’s Malabar Coast is home to historic seaports on the route of the original spice traders. The Malabar Coast is also the origin of white pepper. And so at Cassia Cottage, in honour of one of the origins of pepper, our spice-trader founder named our beach bar in Phu Quoc, The Malabar.
Just as it did on India’s Malabar Coast, at Cassia Cottage’s The Malabar, connection comes first. Unwind to scintillating sunsets and converse at shared tables and beachfront benches while sipping spirited renditions of the classics, or our Phu Quoc original cocktail creations, instilled with the same balance of flavours, and infused with the same spices, as at our nearby restaurant, The Spice House. Or enjoy a snack from The Malabar menu, served up by our Spice House chefs.
At The Malabar, our gentle background music lets the sound of the waves lapping the beach take centre stage. The Malabar is the best bar in Phu Quoc to unwind and witness the island’s sunsets.
